Jaguar unveils brand new F-Type for 2020

Jaguar unveils brand new F-Type for 2020

Today, Jaguar has unveiled a brand new F-Type which from the front, looks a lot different than the outgoing model. The F-Type has been restyled with a new infotainment system and a much more aggressive look.

What’s new?

The original F-Type was prototyped back in 2011 and launched later in 2012 and the outgoing car has remained in the line up, largely unchanged over the years.

For 2020, Jaguar has improved the infotainment system inside, materials from the newer I-Pace electric SUV have been carried over and some engine choices have been dropped from the line up.

In this new version, the headlights are new, the bonnet is now longer and the grill has been enlarged too. New vents on the side also feature as do revised rear lights.

“Everyone’s shouting louder these days and we need to do the same. We don’t want to be brash, but we don’t want to shrink from the opposition, either.”

Adam Hatton, Exterior Design Boss – Jaguar

Engines

Engine wise, the V6 engine has gone and so has the manual gearbox option, which is sad news. The entry level £54k F-Type is a 296bgp four cylinder turbocharged engine, which was brought into the line up a few years ago, this is only available in rear wheel drive configuration.

Next up in the lineup is the supercharged 5-litre V8 with 444bhp, this can only be paired with an automatic gearbox now, although can be specced with rear wheel or 4 wheel drive.

How fast is it?

The base spec four cylinder can do 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds and the V8 can do 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds.

New tech

The old Jaguar F-Type had aged over the years in terms of in car tech, thankfully the new 2020 version has a new 12.3-inch screen and replaces a few of the old dials. The standard spec includes a 10-inch touchscreen.

Jaguar has also added CarPlay and new app called “Jaguar Remote App” which you can use to view your cars fuel level, unlock the car and more.

Pricing and launch date

Prices start at £54,060 for the Coupe, with the 2.0-litre engine, automatic gearbox and 0-60 in 5.4 seconds.

Jump up to £69,990 for the Coupe, 5.0-litre V8, automatic gearbox, rear wheel drive and 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. That same V8 engine with AWD is £74,850. Both these versions of V8 have 444bhp.

Up again is the Coupe, 5.0-litre V8 (567bhp), automatic gearbox, rear wheel drive and 0-60 in 3.50 seconds.

The convertible starts at £59,540 with 2.0-litre engine.
