Kia EV6 now cheaper, thanks to new smaller battery option

Kia EV6 Air Standard Range

The electric car market is a very competitive one at the moment and one of the key players, Kia has introduced a new cheaper version of one of its best selling EVs. The Kia EV6 has always been an EV that is perhaps priced on the more premium side, starting at £45,585 in the UK for the base Air model. However, with the introduction of the new Air Standard Range - the prices now start at £39,235.

Kia has always offered just the one battery size for the EV6, previously with a 77.4kWh unit. Recently with the latest facelift, this was boosted up to 84kWh, which provides 361 miles of range.

However, in a bid to cover all price points and bring that price down to below £40,000, the company has launched a new 'Standard Range' model which comes with a smaller 63kWh battery. Kia says this offers a very respectable 265 miles of range and it comes in at £39,235 in the UK.

Kia thankfully hasn't skimped on its industry standard 800V platform with this new 63kWh pack, remaining capable of rapid charging at 260kW DC, meaning 10-80% can be acheivd in only 18 minutes.

Inside, it still retains the standard level of equipment that Kia EVs are known for, with two 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, reversing camera and Kia's smart cruise control, known has HDA.

Customers can order the new Air Standard Range now, with deliveries starting this month.
