Microsoft Translator comes to iOS and Android

Microsoft Translator comes to iOS and Android

Microsoft is ready to take on Google Translate with their own system called Microsoft Translator which is arguably better designed and it also has support for the Apple Watch as well as the Android Wear system. It can also translate words that are spoken into the watch, which is so useful when travelling.

Microsoft Translator also has support for over 50 different languages:

Arabic, Bosnian (Latin), Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese(S), Chinese(T), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Hmong Daw, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Maltese, Norwegian, Quer’etaro Otomi, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian (Cyrillic), Serbian (Latin), Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese and Welsh and Yucatec Maya.

Microsoft and wearables

Microsoft has taken an odd interest in the Apple Watch with the Outlook app for iPhone now supporting an app on the watch as well as OneDrive for photos, PowerPoint, Sunrise, Skype and more. This is showing that the company is intent on gaining user adoption for their apps as it is the Apple Watch.

The app

The actual app is very well designed with a blurred background which keeps it inline with the design of iOS, something that Google Translate doesn’t do. The app allows you to copy and past text from other apps and type in any words to translate.

Microsoft Translator is available now for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad on iOS 8.0 or later and fully supports the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 and 6 Plus screen sizes, also a Apple Watch version is included.
