Porsche launches Super Bowl ad for the Taycan, first one in 23 years

Porsche is returning to the Super Bowl ad space for this year and it has been a long time since they were here last, back in 1997, which is 23 years ago. This year, Porsche is using their ad to highlight the new Taycan, which was launched in the last few weeks and is the company’s first all electric car, which rivals the Tesla Model S.

“To spotlight the market launch of the new Taycan, the 60-second commercial shows an exciting chase between the first fully electric Porsche and almost a dozen iconic Porsche cars.”

Nadescha Vornehm – Porsche

The new ad will air during the Super Bowl on 2nd February 2020 and the basic premise is that a thief steals a Taycan from the Porsche museum and thus commences are car chase with every other car Porsche makes, including the 918 Spider and a Porsche Tractor.

“The Super Bowl is famous as a TV event far beyond North America and it represents a perfect platform to reach new fans. Our commercial links many elements that make up Porsche: sportiness, emotion, and also a touch of humour, something that is typical for how we communicate in general.”

Oliver Hoffmann – Director Marketing Communications at Porsche
