Three UK is bringing EU roaming charges back

Three UK is bringing EU roaming charges back

UK carrier, Three has announced that it is going to start charging for EU roaming. Ever since the UK left the EU in December 2020 UK carriers can charge customers again for phone usage when visiting Europe, so long as they were “transparent and reasonable rates.” Before Brexit, UK customers had no worries when visiting other EU countries, since 2017 roaming charges weren’t in place.

When Brexit was being ironed out, the four major carrier in the UK- EE, O2, Three, and Vodafone had announced that they had no plans to reintroduce any kind of roaming charges, however all carriers have backtracked on this promise and now have a “fair use” policy.

For Three at least, customers will be charged a flat fee of £2 per day. This change won’t be in place until 23rd May 2022.
