First Firefly EVs being delivered in the Netherlands and Norway

Firefly EV

Firefly, the sub-brand of Chinese car company Nio - has started delivering the first examples if its new electric car, which is also called Firefly. The car was announced in December 2024 and went on sale in China in April 2025. It was revealed that it would launch in the Netherlands and Norway this summer and then in RHD markets later this year, in October.

As of writing, Nio hasn't officially announced that deliveries in Europe have started, but EV news website eletric-vehicles.com learned yesterday that customers have started to receive cars at the Nio Hub in Utrecht.

While prices in China are shockingly low, at just RMB 119,800 (£12,371) - the prices when imported into Europe are naturally higher. In Norway, pricing starts at 279,900 NOK (about £20,200) and in the Netherlands its €29,900 (about £25,700). Due to Norway not being in the EU, the Firefly isn't subject to the tariffs added to EVs coming from China.

The Firefly in Europe doesn't come with the Battery-as-a-Service plan like it does in China and is sold only with the battery purchased. The unit is 41.1kWh and offers 330km (205 miles) WLTP range. DC charging is up to 100kW.
