Ubiquiti announces new UMR-Ultra for $129

Ubiquiti has recently expanded its line of UniFi Mobile Router devices with a new cheaper option, the UMR-Ultra. The other two devices Ubiquiti has launched have both cost the same, at $199. However, taking the Ultra branding in its stride, this new model is indeed cheaper art $129.

The new UMR-Ultra has a few features missing from the standard and industrial models. Namely it drops the Ethernet ports down to FE (10/100mbps) from the Gigabit ports on the other models, it removes GPS and removes the PoE output. It also looks like, from the tech specs at least that the SMA connectors are not TX MIMO, instead one supports 1Rx and the other supports 1Tx and 1Rx.

Like the others UMR models, the Ultra only supports LTE CAT4, meaning a max of 150mbps download and 50mbps upload. The WiFi has also been tweaked, it is WiFi 4 but only using a single chain. It seems pretty clear from the marketing images that Ubiquiti intends tusi to be used as a LTE router for various specific applications. They suggest using it for 'IoT applications', which may mean anything from public EV chargers, remote signge and more.

The new UMR-Ultra is listed on there official Ubiquiti store for $129 US and will be available on 15th October. As of publication, it has not been made available in any other regions yet.
