Ubiquiti launches brand new G5 PTZ for UniFi Protect

Ubiquiti has just announced the brand new G5 PTZ camera for UniFI Protect. The camera was on show at the recent UniFi World Conference (UWC), but it has only just been revealed. This is Ubiquiti's second PTZ camera, following on from the high-end 4K G4 PTZ Industrial which is priced at quite a high, $1,800. The new G5 PTZ is a lot smaller and only cots $299 in the US.

The new camera has a wide array of mounting options, something Ubiquiti has been making an effort with recently including mounts for corners, ceiling flush, conduit, surface and wall. Unlike the G4 PTZ, the new G5 now has a microphone built in, a common complaint from the bigger model. We also have an LED floodlight which can be used for colour night vision and a 2K sensor, not the 4K one we saw in the G4 PTZ. We also get support for person tracking, with settings for presets but not patrol mode.

The new G5 PTZ is available now in the EU and US, with it marked as "coming soon" in the UK. Prices are $299 US, £286 UK and €331.20 in the EU.
