Ubiquiti launches new UniFi Protect ViewPort

Today Ubiquiti has released a brand new device called the UniFi Protect ViewPort, and it is essentially a device for viewing your UniFi Protect cameras on a TV or monitor, thanks for the built in HDMI port. Like everything Ubiquiti, it is conveniently powered by PoE for less cables and power supplies.

With Ubiquiti’s older UniFi Video system as well as the new UniFi Protect platform, the NVR devices are not capable of outputting video to a screen, so until this device came along it is supported to output the RTSP stream to an Apple TV or Raspberry Pi device. Ubiquiti even make the official UniFi Protect app compatible with Apple TV.

Naturally, Ubiquiti say the ViewPort should be on the same LAN as the NVR, in this case the CloudKey Gen2 Plus and from there it can output a customised view to a TV in 4K at 30fps. The limit is 16 cameras per ViewPort.

Ubiquiti has the ViewPort up for sale on store.ui.com for $199. At this time, no UK pricing is available.
