Late last month, Vauxhall updated the popular Corsa with the company’s new vizor design front end. This new design fits in with the rest of the Vauxhall lineup and dramatically modernises the car. Other changes include more technology as standard, new mid hybrid options and improved range for the Corsa Electric.

Corsa Electric

Looking at the updated Corsa Electric, it now has an upgraded battery pack, which is now a 51kWh battery, which offers 15% more range than the older 50kWh system. Vauxhall also say that the range is now rated at 255 miles on a single charge. The motor is now also more powerful, at 154bhp vs the outgoing 134bhp unit. Other models in the Stellantis family, such as the new DS 3 E-Tense and Peugeot e-2008 have dropped the 134bhp motor with 222 miles of range in recent refreshes – however, Vauxhall says this will remain in the lineup to give customers more choice.

Most of the other specs have remained the same, with 100kW rapid charging, meaning 10-80% in 30 minutes and from a standard 7kW it’ll take just under eight hours. However, the new Corsa Electric now supports up to 11kW AC, so it’ll now take just over five hours.

Updated engines

For the other Corsa models, Vauxhall its now offering mild-hybrid engines, which is a 48-volt system as seen in the new Peugeot 2008. These likely are the exact same as seen from Peugeot, so expect a 136bhp 1.2-litre engine with a six speed dual clutch gearbox.

There will also be the option of a standard engine, with a 1.2-litre turbocharged three cylinder with either 98bhp or 128bhp. There will also be a entry level 74bhp version, which will be naturally aspirated.

Other changes

Other changes include a brand new infotainment system, which now has a 10-inch screen with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well wireless phone charging. The integrated satellite-navigation can now receive over-the-air software updates and, the new “Hey Vauxhall” voice control system is also available.

Inside, a new steering wheel design has been added which looks more sporty than before and an updated choice of upholstery is new too. The gear selector has been reduced in size too.

Prices and availability

The prices have not yet been revealed, but deliveries will begin in Q4 2023. The current petrol Corsa starts at £19,085 and the EV at £33,930.
