We reported a lot about the Ford Fiesta being killed off recently. The plans were announced back in October 2022 that in 2023, the popular hatchback would be removed from sale, with no direct replacement planned. It has now been revealed this week that on 7th July 2023, the very last Fiesta will be produced. This decision brings an end to the supermini after 47 years in production.
As for the last models, Ford will be keeping the last two units. One will remain with the Ford international heritage fleet, based in Cologne, Germany and one will be shipped to the UK for the heritage fleet here.
The Ford Fiesta has been at the top of the sales charts for a very long time, pretty much since 1976 and was the best selling UK car between 2009 and 2020. In 2021, the Fiesta fell down the charts and was affected by the supply chain issues during COVID-19. June 2022, saw Ford pause Fiesta sales completely due to semiconductor shortages.
