Just yesterday, Elon Musk has followed through with his promise and rebranded the iconic Twitter website he purchased in October 2022. As of 24th July 2023, Twitter will now been known as 𝕏 and x.com now redirects to Twitter.com. Other parts of the branding effort is yet to be completed, such as the mobile apps on iOS and Android – both of which still showing the bird logo.

Elon spent hours tweeting about the change, saying “soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

The official @Twitter account still retains the same handle, but the name and logos have been changed, which reflects the company employees too.

The company behind Twitter has been called X Corp for sometime now, so this seems to be a more permanent change to the branding. The main reason behind doing this is it’ll be fulfilling Elon’s dream of Twitter becoming an “everything app” which will be what 𝕏 will become. This could entail financing, better messaging and more.

Elon has a soft spot for the letter 𝕏 it seems. The first name for PayPal was X.com, the Tesla SUV is the Model X, we have SpaceX, his latest company X.Ai and his kid, X Æ A-12.
