Facebook, Instagram and Threads down worldwide

This afternoon, Meta – the company behind Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads is experiencing a large scale outage which is seemingly affecting users worldwide. Facebook, Instagram and Threads are all being reported as down by users on X. Users have reported they have been logged out and the services are failing to load on desktop and mobile. As of 15:57 GMT, the Meta system status page is down.

Andy Stone, Communications at Meta posted this update on X:

According to the Meta system status page, this issue is affecting the following services:

  • WhatsApp Cloud API
  • Facebook Login
  • Ads Manager
  • Graph API
  • Marketing API
  • Facebook and Instagram Shops
  • Meta Business Suite

UPDATE: 16:04 GMT – The Meta system status page is back and has been updated with the following info: “We are aware of an issue impacting Facebook Login. Our engineering teams are actively looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

UPDATE 17:07 GMT – Things seem to be back online now and the Meta status page has been updated with the following info: “We are recovering from an earlier outage impacting Facebook Login, and services are in the process of being restored. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.”
