Citroën announces new facelifted Ami, with some inspiration from the 2CV

Today at the Paris motor show, Citroën has shown off its new facelifted Ami microcar. The original Ami debuted four years ago and according to the French brand, it has been "a real social phenomenon."

The new design makes the little car look a bit happier than before, with the headlights moved to the top, as well as new housings for them too. The overall design is more blocky too, which Citroën says make the edges look like Lego bricks. The graphics have also been updated too.

Citroën seems pretty proud of the Ami and in the four years it has been on the market, 65,000 units have been sold worldwide, which is impressive. The Ami is also sold as the Fiat Topolino and Opel Rocks im various markets in Europe. As of writing, neither of those brands have indicated if design refreshes are due, but the Fiat at least looks very stylish as it is.

The specs are the same as the outgoing car, with an EV range of 45 miles, 28mph top speed and a charging speed of 3.6kW. Citroën says it'll come to the UK in 2025.
