Moke opens new UK based EV manufacturing facility

Moke Factory UK

Moke, a low volume UK based company that specialises in electric beach jeeps has opened a brand new production facility in Leamington Spa. The company had an open day and launch event last week, where politicians and various investors attended to tour the new premises. The company, which has been in business for sixty years, also refreshed the Moke with new colour options.

Nick English, the Executive Chairman of Moke International said:

“It’s great to be bringing back production to the UK and indeed the car manufacturing heartland in the Midlands, where the Moke was originally designed by Sir Alec Issigonis. As we now celebrate 60 years of Moke, we are thrilled to be marking such an exciting chapter, enhancing our craftsmanship and innovation while laying the foundation for future success.”

The Moke is now available in some new colour options, with yellow, orange, blue, green and white as well as new upholstery options too.

Moke is also looking to export too, now becoming the first low volume EV manufacturer to have M1 Small Series Approval, EPA Certification, and CARB. The electric Moke is now on sale in all fifty US states, as well as Mexico, France, Italy, Spain and the Balearic Islands.

The Moke isn't cheap though, with prices from £35,995 OTR. The EV powertrain has a max power output of 33kW (44bhp) and has an official WLTP range of 54 miles. Moke says however, that it has a real world range of between 45-80 miles, when tested in cities and on coastlines.
