New MG Cyberster sports car revealed in latest patent images

New MG Cyberster sports car revealed in latest patent images

MG has had a long and complicated history, involving Rover, British Leyland and more. Since 2006, the company has been run by the Chinese company SAIC and has been producing saloons, SUVs and hatchbacks.

Apart from the MG TF continuing production after SAIC purchased MG, the company has not released any new sports cars and this recent patent leak will be the first convertible from the company.

The new car is to be called the Cyberster and will be a pure electric sports car and looks very similar to the original concept car MG revealed in 2017. MG has said that the design has some nods back to the old MGB Roadster from the 60s.

The image in the header is from a patent leak that was uncovered this week and gives us a first glimpse of the car, with a long bonnet, flared skirts and a convertible roof. Around the back reveals an interesting design, with arrows pointing outwards – if we took a guess, it would most likely be where the indicators would be located.

However, this patent information doesn’t reveal what MG has planned for the interior, but from the concept we saw a large portrait infotainment screen, which would most likely run Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

However, not much else is known at this stage, SAIC might not even bring the Cyberster to the UK and might be reserved for the Chinese market.
