This week, Honda has put the all new Civic Type R on sale in the UK, with prices starting at a pretty high, £46,995. The first deliveries to customers are due to start in January 2023, after the car was revealed back in July this year. The all new Civic Type R has a much more restrained look, with the outgoing car being a very busy design, with a lot of spoilers all over the car.

The new sixth generation Civic, in its base form is a very stylish car with a upmarket interior and clean look. The Type R builds on that, with a simple yet functional interior, manual gearbox, bright red seats and carpets and that single piece air vent that stretches the width of the dashboard. The new Type R is the most powerful model Honda has made so far and uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, with 325bhp, 309lb ft torque and a top speed of 171mph. 0-60mph is handled in just 5.4 seconds.

Around the car, Honda has worked hard to save weight where possible. There is a new aluminium bonnet and plastic bootlid. Despite the weight saving, the new car is 35mm longer than before and 38% stiffer.

For added performance, new the air vents at the front of the car are actually functional, helping to reduce air pressure for the front wheel arch and assist with brake cooling.

Inside, the new Civic Type R is like the standard model in terms of the technology. The styling is all Type R however, with red seats finished in suede, carpets, metal gearstick and a custom digital cockpit. There is a large 10.2-inch touchscreen, complete with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The all new 2023 Honda Civic Type R on sale now, priced from £46,995 in the UK. The first deliveries to customers are due to start in January 2023.
