Tesla launches new Model 3 with cheaper interior in Mexico

Tesla has launched a new cheaper version of the Model 32 which for now, is only available in Mexico. The new car ha a new interior and it basically removes some of the new features that were added to the 'upgraded' Model 3 earlier this year, such as ambient lighting, rear screens and other changes. While this is only available in Mexico at the moment, there is that thought that if successful, it could be sold in other markets too as a cheaper option.

The Model 3 Standard Range Rear Wheel Drive is now the cheapest option available in Mexico and costs 749,000 pesos which is the equivalent of £29,303 in the UK or $38,000 in the US. If you remove the VAT, that comes in at $35,000 in the US.

Tesla has also replaced the leather seats with fabric and there isn't the choice between white or black. If you do want to step up for leather, you will need to go for the Long Range or Performance models.

Inside, Tesla has also removed some of the features that the new Model 3 was known for, such as the rear screen which has now been replaced with standard air vents and two USB-C ports. Also removed are the heated seats and heated steering wheel. What isn't known is if Tesla has made these an optional purchase later down the line.

The new Model 3 was also known for its colour customisable ambient lighting surrounding the cabin, this has now been replaced with a standard white colour. Again this could in theory be unlocked via a software update, but this remains to be seen - it depends on if Tesla has replaced components or its just the software that has changed.

Tesla has also downgraded the stereo system, going from 17 speakers, 2 amplifiers and 2 subwoofers down to 9 speakers, 1 amplifier and no subwoofer.

When we compare the UK pricing, it is £10,000 cheaper than the current Rear Wheel Drive model, but when comparing the US pricing, it is around $4,000 less than the next model up.
