Xiaomi SU7

Chinese tech company, Xiaomi announced its plans to enter the EV market back in 2021. It then followed through on those plans not long afterwards, as in March 2024 it debuted the SU7 saloon and shifted 100,000 in under eight months.

We also reported in December 2024 that the company was looking to enter other markets outside of China and according to reports at the time, Xiaomi was laying down the local teams to execute this. This is now the first time that Xiaomi has commented on the matter.

While at the time this news was only coming via various media reports, Xiaomi has now confirmed that it was now “exploring” European car markets.

When speaking to Chinese media outlet Jiemian at the Mobile World Conference 2025 (MWC) - Xiaomi President, William Lu said the following:

"After MWC, I will visit several European countries to investigate the market and see our global overseas data. I have a goal: I hope we can officially go overseas in 2027."

The Xiaomi SU7, the company's first car has a 73.6kWh battery from BYD, with 700km of range (434 miles) when tested on the CLTC cycle. Power is rated at 654bhp.

The company also has a mid size SUV in the works, called the YU7. Images of were revealed in December 2024 by Xiaomi.

At this stage, it is unclear whether or not Xiaomi will enter the UK market.
