BYD subsidiary, Yangwang debuts longer U8L SUV

Yangwang U8L

At the Shanghai Auto Show, Yangwang one of three sub-brands that sit under BYD has launched its new U8L SUV, which is a stretched version of its existing U8 SUV that was the brand's first model. Yangwang plans on launching the new model at the end of 2025, with pricing to be confirmed.

The U8L is larger than the U8 in pretty much every measure, sitting at 5,400mm in length, 2,049mm in width and 1,921 in height. For context, the smaller U8 comes in at 5,319 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width and 1,930 mm in height. This makes the U8L larger than a Range Rover.

One noticeable difference is that the U8L drops the spare wheel seen on the back of the U8 and has six seats spread across three rows. The U8L also has three oracle gold badges that are made of real 24-carat gold.

The original U8 was launched by Yangwang in September 2023 and is currently on sale in China for RMB 1,098,000, which works out to be around £113,000 when converted.

At this stage not much is known about the future availability of Yangwang in the UK. However the parent company BYD has been in the UK since April 2023 and is due to launch Denza in 2025, it has previously mentioned that Fangchengbao will also launch in the UK.
