The brand new Peugeot 208, which also shares its platform with the latest Vauxhall Corsa has won the award for European Car of the Year today beating the Porsche Taycan, Ford Puma (which won What Car? Car of the Year back in January) and the Tesla Model 3.

Whether or not a car wins or not is based on how many points it has been given, the Tesla Model 3 got 242 points and the Peugeot 208 got 281 points overall.

“I am particularly proud that the New PEUGEOT 208 has just won the 2020 Car of the Year prize. This trophy underlines the excellence of the work and great commitment of all the teams of the Brand and the Groupe PSA.”

Jean-Philippe – Peugeot CEO

The Ford Puma, which we mentioned above – won the What Car? Car of the Year in January, but despite this it only came fourth and was beaten by the Renault Clio.

The new Peugeot 208 and the new Vauxhall Corsa are both offered in traditional combustion only variants as well as full EV alternatives, which can’t be said about the Puma, even though it has mild hybrid options.
