With the ‘Peek Performance’ event earlier this week, Apple announced the new iPad Air, Mac Studio but also discontinued the last Intel iMac.

Apple might update the 27-inch iMac later on at some stage, but for now Apple is suggesting that customers go for the new Mac Studio for a lightweight and compact desktop for video editing etc.

Apple also released a Studio Display to go alongside the new Mac Studio.

However, when the new 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip was released last year, Apple never updated the larger version and hasn’t since August 2020.

However, this is only the start of the Apple Silicon transition, Apple is due to move the Mac Pro to Apple Silicon soon. Apple might even launch a larger iMac down the road.
