Elon Musk has come out this week on Twitter and said that the 30% tax Apple enforces on the App Store is “definitely not ok.” This was in reply to an article from Slashdot talking about how PayPal had helped make sure an antitrust complaint against Apple was pushed forward.

Apple has long charged companies an extra 30% on any app payments customers make and on any in app purchase (IAP) which has become more and more of an issue in the last few years, with companies like Spotify attempting to take legal action against Apple and Epic Games, which has done so.

Elon Musk has just offered to purchase Twitter and will soon be the owner, he also runs Tesla. He said that the fee is “like having a 30% tax on the internet” and is “definitely not ok.” He also said that the fee is “Literally 10 times higher than it should be.”

We can imagine that Elon has come across the fees from delving deeper into Twitter, which of course has a paid service now called Twitter Blue.
