Musk is planning to being verification check marks to everyone as soon as next week, something which has been covered heavily in the media for the past few days as well as in discussions between users.

We reported earlier this week that Twitter under Elon Musk is preparing to revamp the verification process, with a plan to start charging users $8 per month for Twitter Blue, which would now include the sought after verification badge. Twitter Blue used to be $4.99 per month and gives users access to edit tweets, new app icons and more.

According to Bloomberg, who spoke to people familiar with what Twitter has planned – the company will give users who are currently verified a “multi-month grace period.” Once that time is up, they can basically keep it or lose it, requiring them to subscribe in order to retain it. It is also reported that for regions where Twitter cannot charge yet, it’ll allow those users to stay verified – this also applies to government accounts.

Twitter Blue subscribers have also been able to edit tweets, it is also understood that the company is planning on bringing this to all users, maybe as soon as next week.
