As of last week, Mercedes started taking orders for the new, all electric EQS SUV. The car is on sale now in the UK, with prices starting at £129,170. So far, Mercedes has a large range of fully electric SUVs and the new model joins the line of ultra premium models, comparable with the likes of the BMW iX and Audi E-tron.

Mercedes is offering just a few models, with two power levels. Both are four wheel drive only and the entry level model has 355bhp and 419lb ft of torque. The top of the range model has 536bhp and 632lb ft torque, with both models sharing the same 108.4kWh battery, which offers between 362 and 365 miles of range.

Mercedes has also kept the trim levels simple too, with only two available. Base spec is the AMG Line Premium Plus and at the top, is Business Class. AMG Line Premium Plus comes with a black Nappa leather interior, wood trim, huge infotainment screens with three separate displays, wireless phone charging and a heads up display.

Business Class is from £143,495 and adds beige Nappa leather, ship deck wood, rear seat entertainment and the comfort package.

For the infotainment system, there are three large displays with a 12.3-inch drivers display and two 12.8-inch portrait screens serving the rest. Everything is powered by an eight-core processor and 24GB RAM. Occupants can use the ‘Hey Mercedes’ command to control the heating, entertainment and more. The car can also receive OTA updates down the line.
