Apple has made the new Emergency SOS via satellite live today in the US and Canada, however at the same time Apple has announced it is bringing the new feature to some European countries, such as the UK, France, Germany and Ireland.

Starting in December, Apple will make the feature available for iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro owners, with more countries to be added in 2023.

The new feature allows users to contact emergency services via satellite in scenarios where WiFi or cellular service is unavailable. Location can be shared via Find My and emergency services can be contacted via a custom text message function, which in practice looks to be more effective and less bandwidth dependant than phone calls.
