According to British newspaper/tabloid Daily Mail, Apple has been reported to be preparing a bid to secure the rights to the English Premier League. The rights to stream the league are soon due for renewal and the current three year deal with Sky Sports and BT Sport expires in 2025.

Apple has recently shown an interest in football. For example, back in 2020 Apple started streaming Ted Lasso on Apple TV+ which has undeniably been a smash hit with fans and a third season is due pretty soon. Just last week, a new docuseries went live on Apple TV+ outlining the issues with the European Super League.

With actual sports, Apple has been showing the MLB ames on Apple TV+ and stating in February, all MLS games in the US will be available only through the Apple TV app, with a new season pass, of which will be discounted for Apple TV+ subscribers.

The rights to the English Premier League can be a large value bid, usually in the billions which won’t be an issue for Apple. In the past, Amazon has owned the rights to the league, which had mixed results the first time around. According to the Daily Mail, the offers for the rights will start later this year and Apple has been reported to be putting its foot in the door.
