Ubiquiti recently launched two new cameras, the G5 Pro and the AI Pro. Both are pretty similar, so we’ll take a look at them to see which is worth buying. The G5 Pro was in the EA store for a while, up until Ubiquiti removed the EA Store all together. The AI Pro is a much newer device, nothing was known about it prior to the launch and it does look to be pretty similar to the G5 Pro in a few ways. Like all other AI cameras, the AI Pro has a black outer case and can do licence plate detection, in addition to people and vehicles, like the G5 Pro can do.
Both cameras have 4K 8MP sensors and a blue LED ring, which can be disabled within the UniFi Protect dashboard.
The G5 Pro costs $379 in the US, £363.60 in the UK and €418.80 in the EU. The AI Pro is $499 in the US, £478.80 in the UK and €550.80 in the EU.

Recommendation
In terms of a recommendation, not much can be said purely based on the spec sheets. In theory, the AI Pro should just be a better G4 Pro/G5 Pro with the same 4K sensor. The addition of license plate detection on the AI Pro might swing you towards it, but the floodlight accessory on the G5 Pro for colour night vision might swing you back the other way. Having said that, while it is speculation at this stage, the AI Pro does have the same USB-C port on the back as the G5 Pro, indicating it might work with the accessory at some stage, or a new one might be launched.
Our recommendation would be to only go with the AI Pro if you have a genuine need for licence plate detection, if not then the G5 Pro will be the better choice.
