Netflix reported last week that after the start of the password sharing crackdown, it has resulted in a steep rise of new subscribers. The company reported in its latest earning report that it has gained a total of 5.9 million new subscribers in Q2 2023, with one million of those coming from the US and Canada alone.

Now that the program has been considered successful, Netflix will be rolling it out to pretty much all of the other countries that haven’t yet been enrolled. Netflix also said that in areas where the program was activated, the new sign ups outweighed the people cancelling and that revenue has grown by 2.7% year over year.

Netflix has claimed that 100 million households were sharing accounts, which has limited its ability to reinvest in the company and providing new content for users.
